HEY JESSIE… ME-TIME, HOW TO GET GUM OUT OF HAIR, & AT HOME PRO PICS…

I love when you guys chat with me, send nice notes and ask my thoughts or ideas on a subject. Very often I get the same questions from several of you so I thought this might be a nice way to share the answers for all to see in case one of you didn’t even know you wanted to know the answer. Remember, my way of doing things is right for ME. That does not mean that it will be right for YOU. But very often, you can learn from what I share or get an idea of how you might like to try something and it will help you build a happier, healthier life which I believe we all should strive for.

QUESTION: As a busy work from home mom, how do you make time for you?

ANSWER: This answer is simple – I don’t leave it up to chance. The more complex side of that answer is, I know that I am a better me, wife, mom, daughter, sister, friend, employer and human in this world when I show up for ME as much as I show up for others. It’s non negotiable. And because my schedule is crazy, my me-time is found at 5 am before the kids are up. I just can’t focus when my kids are around. And if I want to be effective, I cannot be multi tasking. I need to shut off distractions and listen to what the universe and my heart shares with my mind. There is so much power in making time for you. My me time goes like this: chug 20 ounces of water, meditate, journal, workout for 30 minutes, coffee and get myself ready (shower and dressed) for the day.  This me-time helps me keep perspective on: what is important to me, who I want to be and how I want to show up in the world, being grateful for each and every experience (good and bad), finding clarity, my deepest desires, keeping my body as healthy as my mind and how to take actions to get me closer to where I want to be in every aspect of my life. I believe good enough isn’t good enough – we should always be striving to learn and grow. And on the other end of this, there are two other important things to note. First – I get the kids in bed on time and then get myself ready for bed, read a book and go to sleep by 10. I know that I function best with 7 hours of sleep. Second – I do not do much extra stuff where time gets lost like watching TV or scrolling social media. These types of habits for me become a rabbit hole and don’t help me accomplish all I want or feel like I’m in control of my days. Btw… I’m human – I still watch limited tv (like one show a week at most #thisisus) and scroll to catch up on social media but one last tip I swear by here is choosing to only be “friends” with or “follow” those who bring joy to you when you see their posts. “Unfriend” or “Unfollow” those who leave you feeling depressed when you see their statuses. We become a reflection of what we accept. I no longer accept negative, judgemental, critical, rude, argumentative, or finger pointers to be on my social media feeds and it’s such a breath of fresh air to be free from those peoples soul sucking behaviors.

QUESTION: I remember you sharing a trick to get gum out of your kids hair without using scissors, what was it again?

ANSWER: Sol-U-Mel from Melaleuca.com. Simply rub the product into their hair with your fingers and watch the gum separate from the hair and gently pull out of hair from root to end. I found Melaleuca in the beginning of this year when I was looking for natural cleaning products to use in my home because my 4 year old had some sort of reaction to the chemical filled products I was using and he landed in the emergency room. We fell in love with the cleaning products because they are natural, mild smelling and concentrated so they last longer. But we also love the fact that they seem to work better – I mean seriously less elbow grease to get things clean and there are no child proof caps required, meaning if one of my babes were to drink a whole bottle of something, it might make their belly sick but they wouldn’t die from it and there would be no need to rush to medical attention. As a mom of 4 littles, THIS IS PIECE OF MIND. I attached a picture below of my favorite Melaeuca.com cleaning products, what they can be used for and what they replace. And two more side notes: First – Melaleuca.com has over 450 products that fall in categories like bath and body, nutrition, medicine cabinet, beauty, household, essential oils and are all natural, healthier and safer product alternatives to what you are already using. Second – Because I know you’ll ask, how do I order from Melaleuca.com. It is an online membership club that costs $20 a year to join and you earn steep discounts when you become a preferred member and order each month. Ordering here has actually helped me decrease my budget each month because I simply am buying similar products at a new store that BONUS, delivers directly to my door. I started as a customer of Melaleuca.com and started recommending everything to so many others because we feel in love with it that i joined as a marketing executive which means I get paid to enroll new members. However, it’s important to know that I would recommend this company even if I didn’t get paid to. In fact, I did for the first couple months. I believe in the company, it’s mission and products that much. If you want to learn more on how you can try the products or make a great living from home sharing melaleuca.com with others, you know how to message me…. I’ll give you all the details.

QUESTION: You shared in your Instagram story that you take all your own pictures yourself. What are your tips do this and make them look good?

ANSWER: Yes, I am a one woman show over here with my blog. It’s more of a passion project right now so I couldn’t justify big overhead expenses like paying a photographer. So it’s just me, my trusty iPhone 8, portrait mode, self timer and PATIENCE. I will be doing a whole tutorial for how I set up, take and edit pictures soon because that deserves a post of it’s own as it’s a bit more in depth with what I have found to work best for me.

Happy Monday friends – Remember you are in control of your feelings and reactions to every single thing that happens to you. In fact, if you see things as not happening TO YOU BUT FOR YOU, it has the power to help you learn and grow from each thing, good and bad.

Thank you for being here!

Xoxo,

Jess
